Took this bag for late Fall through trek in Olympic Nat'l Park at altitude. Low thirties - mix of very damp conditions to dry & windy. Performed well and to my expectations. It'll go with me on future trips to High Sierra, Yellowstone back country etc.
I wanted a lightweight 0 to -3C rated bag under 3lbs that was roomy enough to allow me to double duty a fleece or thin puffy top if I needed to stretch the cold rating further. Bonus I managed to snag this as part of the 50% sale. Great deal. Between this and my quilt looks like I've got my sleeping system nailed.
Double zip design is nice. I noticed the new Nitro bags don't have the double zip (shame IMO. Made all the difference for me). Zissou hood retains pillow position nicely. I'm 6'2" and 220 lbs - didn't feel constrained at all (especially at top around the shoulders which is a big peeve for me and mummies) bullers on Nov 4th 2017
I tried to review this once before but my review was rejected, maybe because I jokingly said that it was "Too Warm" in the title? I am a woman and I tend to sleep cold. I used this sleeping bag in a tent when the outside temperatures went down to 44 degrees; I was wearing a tank top and underpants and never completely zipped up the bag and was extremely warm all night. I even had to stick one arm out at times to cool down. Needless to say, I was very pleased.
I was attracted to this bag because of its light weight for the warmth and the very reasonable price. It packs down very nicely. I have a synthetic bag of similar warmth that weighs a pound more, is much bulkier to pack (and cost more as well!) There are no bells and whistles, this bag isn't fancy, but it's a warm, light bag for the price. Unknown on Oct 16th 2017
I used my new Zissou on an 8 day WY elk hunt in late September. Lows in the 20s and 30s the whole trip. I'm a bit of a cold sleeper, but I got along just fine in this bag. It was comfortable and did what it was made to do. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good bag (and a good price). Curt on Oct 3rd 2017
I bought 2 of the Zissou 700/15 degree bags after suffering too many nights in the high country with cheap/light/ineffective bags. The amazing sale Sierra Designs had going on at the time, along with a positive review from a trusted friend convinced me to make the purchase. After the first use last weekend, I would gladly pay full price for this quality bag. My son and I were very warm in ~38 degree weather. It's worth noting that we had significant wind entering the tent all night due to a zipper issue and warmth was never a problem.
I really like the freedom of movement I have in the bag, and the comforter segment made for a more bed-like experience when sleeping on my stomach or side. My inflatable pillow tucks nicely into the hood too. The Zissou packs well, has a respectable weight and fluffs up quickly.
We also purchased the Eleanor bag for my very cold natured wife, and she was shocked at how warm the Eleanor bag was for her first time camping experience.
I highly recommend the Zissou and Eleanor bags! Rich on Oct 3rd 2017
I shopped around for a good 3 season bag that would also keep me warm in mild winter conditions...and this was the bag I came back to every time. Quilt like design allows for easy ventilation in warmer weather and great loft and down fill make for a warm night when temperatures drop. It doesn't get better in terms of quality, comfort, weight, versatility and value. Tim on Aug 21st 2017
Haven't had a chance to use it yet (lows of 70 in northern California right now), but the bag seems well made. It's big, so I'm certain I won't feel cramped in it. Wish it had come with a compression sack but other than that very happy. Dylan on Aug 1st 2017
Just took delivery of my new sleeping bag. Going to use it for a 12 day expedition with my Boy Scout son and 8 others to Philmont. It'll get put through the paces of daily use, packing and unpacking for our trek. Have yet to sleep in it, but looking it over alongside a bag that was $100 higher, the quality looks the same or better from Sierra Design. I love the comforter fold over on the bag, I think that will come in quite handy.

I just got my bag last week and had an opportunity to use it withing a few days of getting it. So, I've only got one night for comparison, but it performed wonderfully. The overnight temp was around 22 degrees (F.) I had on socks, knit cap and light to middle weight (single layer) sleep clothes, and I was perfectly comfortable all night. Cold feet is usually my complaint, but not this time; love the shape of the foot area on the bag. Only wish is for a small zippered storage pocket somewhere - it may be there, but I looked and couldn't find one. I had that on my old bag and it was a nice to have. John on Mar 7th 2017
Just returned from 12 days in the high desert of the Eastern Sierra Mountains. Evening temperatures ranged around 50 degrees (plus or minus). This bag performed exceptionally well -- including remaining bone dry notwithstanding the dampness inside my tent during one solid evening of pouring rain. Love the fact that the right side of the bag partially zips down if you want to fold down the top of the bag. My only complaint is that the zipper catches quite a bit (this was also complained about by another recent reviewer). Otherwise it's a great bag! Andy on Jun 20th 2016
Just received the sleeping bag and since I ordered online I never had a chance to inspect it in person prior to the order. I am impressed by the quality of construction and the design. The vertical 4' band that circles the bag makes it easy to change position in the bag without having it wrap around you as you move. I really appreciate the extra room for feet and the blanket like piece at the top opening makes a very comfortable and warm shoulder cover when the bag is not zipped tight. When the bag is zipped tight, this blanket piece provides extra insulation for your shoulders. Great idea!!! Tom on Apr 20th 2016
