I bought this bag for my JMT hike in July 2018. Previously, I had for some years used a high-end synthetic sleeping bag, but I decided it was finally time to make the jump to down for the lighter weight and lower volume.
- With a standard 10L compression sack, the bag gets down to about 3L in size, very compact.
- Excellent warmth. I was so toasty in the 40s that I slept in my underwear with the zipper down/bag half open.
- The crown jewel of this bag for me is the foot vent. It allows you to easily cool off your feet without having to wrestle with a zipper, and it does in fact self-seal without any leakage/draft.
- It's pricey, but not much more than other down bags of similar temperature rating.
I will be buying this bag for the rest of my backpacking and camping days, mostly because the foot vent feature is genius. Nat on Jul 12th 2018
After 10 years with my first sleeping bag (Sierra Design) it was time to get another bag. I was sure to come back to SD but what bag to pick? I get cold easily and this bag has kept me warm when temps dropped to 30 degrees this last trip. The foot box opening kept me from getting night sweats and helped me regulate my temperature. The soft loft of this bag had me sleeping in (usually I am up with the sun). I look forward to many adventures with my new sleeping bag~ Sam L. on Jun 24th 2018
