    1. Customer Review

I don't typically write product reviews, but I am compelled to write something about this jacket. I spent a week backpacking in Glacier National Park in August. Highs in the 80's and lows in the 40's and this jacket was all I had. I wore it over a thin down vest and an array of baselayers. The snug fit of this jacket compressed the thin down insulation and created a super-light and stretchy security blanket that worked well in a range of conditions. The Medium fit me perfectly (6'0, 175). What I loved: It handled moderate precipitation with no problem- never felt a drop. The high pockets were always easy to reach even with a big pack (I read this in the product description but I had no idea how valuable it was until I was actually hiking). The fabric is as technical as it is beautiful and the cut is unique. The sleeves roll up super easy to dump heat and compensate for the lack of real pit zips. The stretch fabric let me move freely, but the snug, slim fit made me feel secure. The inner material kept the jacket from sticking to me when it was warm. It was like I was wearing a tornado shelter when it was cold, wet, and windy outside and then a super light SPF hoody when it was warm and dry outside. Lastly- it has a robust center zipper that shows no signs of failing after intense use. The lie-flat hood design was never perfectly flat- but that wasn't a big deal. This jacket had me covered from start to finish. True, I didn't hike in a 3-hour deluge and I wasn't fighting to keep in every drop of body heat, but it completely handled a wide variety of conditions. It easily earned it's keep and was never a burden on the trail. on Sep 26th 2014

    2. Customer Review

Two weeks in with this jacket and so far it's great. It breathes very well. I've worn in on a bike ride in unusually high winds and it felt like it just deflected the wind. The pit vents kept internal body heat down. Not to mention it looks great. Every time I've worn it out, I get compliments on the style. It does fit a little smaller so size up from what you wore in previous SD jackets. I used to wear a medium and I got this in a large and it fits great. But couldn't be happier with it so far. Terrific piece that's now my go-to jacket. on Mar 17th 2014
