This truly is the better vest. Unfortunately I took a fall rock climbing and ripped my first one on a sharp granite rock that was a major bummer, but sense then I have bought two more of these better vest one in yellow and one in red. Truly hope stock comes back because I want a blue and orange one. I truly love sierra designs and this product very much. Without sounding like to much of a fan boy lets talk about the reasons why I have come to love this unique down teeshirt.
These have a longer than normal torso length and this is really nice. To never have this ride up above waist line and have that overlap of fabric really adds to the wind and warmth factors when using this without a outer layer.
I truly love this product. It works perfect as a ski touring layer that allows me to cool a large portion of my blood off through the arms while still keeping my core warm. This allows for fewer layer changes that make for a more enjoyable uphill/downhill and downhill/uphill transition. I have tour skied with this product on days of extremely high wind around 25-30 degrees and this handled it perfectly allowing my arms to cool me off and still be easily warmed back up by putting my shell back on.
This is my go to insulation layer for any activity be it rock climbing, fly fishing, hiking, skiing, ski touring, and even just as a layer to get to class on any days between 15 and 40 degrees. This is a down teeshirt how cool is that? It is very thin for as well as it warms. It has about the same amount of down as one would expect in a down vest that cost twice as much from a different brand. This makes it easy to put another down jacket or permaloft layer over it if the temp takes a dip, and not feel over encumbered with excessive layers.
This does fit tight in the trunk and bust so be aware of that if you have a non-slender figure and potentially size up. I am 6'1" and 165 pounds with a bust of ~39 inches and a waist of 30 inches and the medium fits snug without restricting much movement. This is how I prefer my outdoor equipment. Being slightly on the tight side is my preference. I probably couldn't get this in a medium if the length wasn't longer than normal. To me this is a perfect fit and I love it.
This product does have a few cons though. Firstly the nylon denier of this product is ultra light and could be upgraded to a more rip and wear resistant thickness. This isn't too much of a problem because it does allow for better water transfer away from the core when working up a sweat or trying to get rid of moisture while sleeping in below zero weather in a backcountry bed. Additionally there are no pockets. I wish this had one chest pocket that the shirt could be stuffed into and at least hold a phone or small fly box. The zipper does zip down very far such that you can access pockets on your base fleece layer though. You just have to be aware of pocket placement when choosing complimentary base layers when using this.

Just what I wanted and needed. Unknown on Feb 22nd 2018
Very happy. Form fitting bicycle jersey style will fit under my wind shell for spring hiking warmth. Like how the quilt extends over my shoulders and down my arms, as well as up and around my neck. Panels under arms and down sides stretch to permit unfettered mobility and should provide ventilation where needed. Nice materials particularly around interior of neck, plus a zipper garage. Got my XL better vest before Christmas and used it a few times for XC skiing.
It got quite wet but still held good warmth. I'm trying to decide if this is a good mid-layer for fat biking. I also used it for an outdoor evening fire-it night with my 450g jacket and the 2 were enough for the -16-deg-C temps.
The vest is fitted. I'm a 44-Tall jacket and i have an XL. No extra material anywhere, but the side stretch panels provide good motion and its very comfortable. the neck zipper stays down below the cuff and doesn't affect the comfort.
I probably wore it around the house for 7 days straight.
I think it's a great piece!

Adds lots of warmth as an inside layer, but prevents arm pit ventilation. Great to throw on around camp to warm up quickly. Also a great emergency piece to roll up and throw in your pack. The side stretch panels work great to keep the piece from binding you up. May not work so well for the portly because it doesn't stretch anywhere else. I normally wear medium in sierra designs, but I could barely get the medium in this piece over my head. The large in this piece fits me well. I bought a 2nd one after they were discontinued because I like it so much. Unknown on Dec 28th 2016
Warm. Breathes well. Great layering piece. If you need to use your arms, ventilate, and stay warm this is the piece. It runs a bit small. I'm a standard medium, usually fits with a little room, but not this. It's form fitting, but it stretches and moves with you. I'm 5'9" 155 pounds. Jake on Oct 20th 2016
I have owned this Down T-Shirt for 1.5 years now. Absolutely love it. It's light at 6 ounces and perfect for my AT spring and fall trips. I hike in a long sleeve T, layer with this and add a shell and it's the ultimate SUL set-up. Cantankerous Chris on Jun 5th 2016
I like the vest design but it hasn't been cold enough to use it yet. Only one thing I would add to this vest is a pocket. Four star because I haven't been able to try it in cold weather yet. Gordon on Oct 19th 2015
