The warmest, most functional quilt ever built. As a lightweight alternative to a sleeping bag, the Backcountry Quilt is extra long for more coverage and warmth. We’ve also incorporated unique features to insulate your head and arms.

I love the design of this quilt, the face/hood really sets it apart from other designs. It's great to have that to bury your head in on colder nights. Really my only issue with this quilt, and the new 20 degree one, is that SD should have really given them the 10d shell fabric, and 850 fill down to make it a truly ultralight bag (like they did with the Backcountry Bed Elite). The thru-hiking crowd, including myself, would eat that up. Otherwise it's still a very good, and unique quilt design. Unknown on Mar 7th 2017
I actually have last year's 800/30 model, but the design seems the same other than the fill. This is the perfect bag if, like me, you sleep with a dog curled up under one arm. I have a 20" Big Agnes pad, he has his rectangle of foam (Ridgerest Deluxe) and he just tucks in underneath with me. It covers us both and is easy to vent. I roll from back to side to stomach and he just fits himself in. When I get it out of the closet his tail starts wagging because he knows we are hitting the trail. I am ordering the 15 degree model this week and selling my other mummy bags. Jim Walke on Feb 25th 2017
Clever design touches that work set this bag apart from the rest of the quilt-style sleeping bags. I was skeptical of this bag. A permanent footbox in a quilt? It works well - the footbox "anchors" the quilt in position and is so roomy that it doesn't even feel like it has a footbox. The head enclosure adds versatility and is basically invisible if not needed. The bag is pleasantly warm for its weight. This is the lowest fill power of any down bag I own (700), but I assume that is a cost decision by Sierra Designs. Since this bag has relatively little down to start with, I don't think a higher fill rating would result in much weight savings. I can't comment on the Dridown feature and hope I never will! I'm very pleased with this bag. Dan Barwick on Dec 29th 2016
