Not all quilts are created equal. The BCQ is the only quilt in the market to offer an integrated hood and hand/arm pockets that help to seal in the warmth in a variety of seasons and temperatures. At only 1.5 lbs, the weight-saving design of the Backcountry Quilt utilizes your sleeping pad for under-body insulation.

I find sleeping bags to be restrictive in terms of sleeping position. This quilt more than met my expectations for weight, and for a nice "feel" regarding the fabric. It would be better if it had some loops to attach one side to a sleeping pad.... But I can put those on easily enough. I really like the innovation of the face cover as well as the ability to put your hands in the "mittens" in the corner. Nice job SD! Unknown on May 21st 2018
I bought two Backcountry Quilts to replace my SD Wild Bill and Rosa bags (20°synthetic mummy bags). I was looking for compromise between price and performance. It's really hard to find a down 20° bag under two pounds at a reasonable price. Most are $300 minimum. The Backcountry Quilt did all this and delivers great performance, compressibility, and comfort. It's a larger size and weight than many other quilts, but compared to many other mummy bags, it is considerably lighter. In fact, it cut over one pound off the weight of my previous mummy. It's larger size for a quilt gives it added comfort and versatility. I took it out for a couple nights with lows in the thirties. It kept me toasty warm in base layers (I am a cold sleeper). No drafts, no cold spots, etc. It was like having an electric blanket. I also liked that it feels more like a comforter. You can pull the covers up or down much like the covers on a bed. It's design also allowed me to use it in other ways that I couldn't do with my mummy bag. I wrapped it around my shoulders on cold evenings and used it in my hammock for added warmth. LOVE this product! Josh Cossins on May 8th 2018
Havn't had the chance to take my new 20 degree quilt on the trail yet so i shut off the furnace and me and the Mrs snuggled up for a good nights rest. I love the freedom that the quilt offers and boy did it keep me warm. I was able to pull it down when i got too hot or pull it nice and tight when i got a chill. The quality is unmatched and its light as a feather. Im very happy i went with Sierra Designs. I also bought the Flex Capacitor for my wife and we cant wait to get out and put some miles on the ol' hiking boots. Kevin DeLong on Jan 18th 2018
